Public telephony is widely available in public payphones located in all major cities. The public telephones can use calling cards or coins, to allow for national and international calls; The public telephone booths are also common in villages and rural areas.

To call abroad from a public booth requires a LADATEL prepaid card that can be bought in shops and supermarkets.
